Welcome to These Old Hills HQ, a home for faith, storytelling, and reflection. My name is Steven, and this space is an extension of the work I’ve dedicated my life to—sharing biblical truth, personal experiences, and the stories that shape us. From Salvation’s Reach, where scripture meets daily encouragement, to These Old Hills, where the landscapes and lives of the hills come alive, this site weaves together faith, history, and creativity into a single narrative.
I was raised in a home filled with love, faith, and encouragement. My parents taught me what it means to live a life rooted in purpose—to embrace God’s love, to persevere, and to cherish the people and places that make up our journey. That foundation is why I write, why I teach, and why I continue sharing stories that illuminate the beauty of both the everyday and the eternal.
There are days when I find myself longing for the simplicity of childhood—the joy of playing outside, the thrill of a new adventure, the laughter shared with friends. Those memories are precious, untouched by the hardships that come with growing older. Life has changed, and not all of it has been easy. Cancer stole precious time from my family, from my father, and from the future I thought we’d have together. I hate cancer. I hate what it does to families, to communities, to those who battle with everything they have, only to be taken too soon. No one should have to suffer from it. No one should have to watch their loved ones fade away because of it.
But in the midst of loss and longing, there is still hope. There is still faith. And that is what keeps me moving forward—telling stories, sharing God’s word, and capturing the beauty in both hardship and healing. This site is more than a collection of projects. It is a place to reflect, to learn, and to engage. Whether you’re here for the gospel, for stories of life in the hills, for my books, or for educational resources, I welcome you to be a part of this journey. The hills have shaped me, faith sustains me, and storytelling connects us all.
